During the pandemic, many people move from Florida to New York and vice versa. In recent years, thousands of Floridians move to NYC, and I was also one of them. Moving companies have helped me a lot during this move. I moved to New York because I have got an excellent job opportunity there.

How I Moved from Florida to New York

Planning
As mentioned earlier, I decided to move to NYC due to a job. My new company offered me residency, so I don’t have to do much to find a good living place. I convinced my family to come with me, and thankfully they were all agreed to move.
Kids were reluctant because they don’t want to leave their schools, friends, and comfort zone. But when I told them the new place would have a lot more to offer, they agreed.

Packing
The company gave me one month to relocate. So, when I got an offer letter, we started packing. Since New York is an expensive place to live, we decided to pack belongings ourselves to save some money. We have to move during the pandemic, so kids were at home because their classes were online.
They helped me a lot during the packing process. I bought different-sized boxes to pack my goods. Thanks to the creativity and speed of the children, we have completed the packing process earlier than we expected. It was a long-distance move, so we packed boxes keeping that in mind.
We packed delicate items in separate boxes. Secure them with blankets and foams. Since we have done the packing, so we label all the boxes. Moreover, we mark the boxes with delicate items so that movers can deal with them with care.

Hiring Movers
Since it was a long-distance move, so we preferred to hire movers. We started our research as soon as we plan to move. We contacted different moving companies. Even we have visited some companies to know whether they offer long-distance moving services or not. We have a month to decide, so we were able to find the best moving company according to our budget and needs.
The good thing was they reached our home on time on a moving day. We don’t have to pay any extra charges because everything was in a written contract.

On the Moving Day
It was a nervous time because we have spent more than a decade in our previous home. But sometimes, we have to leave our comfort zone and take bold steps. Perhaps, it was also a crucial decision.
We have packed things early, so we were relaxed on a moving day. Movers were loading the items in the moving truck, and we were watching them. Kids were also enjoying this experience. We have packed a bag for kids so that they can have all the items they need during the move, including snacks, water, and cold drinks.
We have purchased a pet carrier for our little Maltese dog. We bring him in our car. We frequently stopped during the move so that pets and kids can relax and enjoy the outside environment.

At the New Home
As movers were hired for loading and unloading tasks, they did this for us. We have already assigned rooms to everyone. We opened one bag that contains items for the first week. Leave other boxes in the rooms. Furthermore, we started opening boxes after a week, and it took 15 days to set our home.
Kids and pets took time to get used to their new home. But the good thing was they got comfortable after some days.

Settling In
When kids were enrolled in schools and everything was settled, we decided to explore NYC. We started by visiting nearby places. We keep exploring everything, and the kids enjoyed this experience.
Moreover, we have found parks and other entertainment places near our apartment. In short, the kids who were the most nervous before a move were the happiest ones now.
